I’ve been thinking a lot about communities lately. In the sense that during this time of isolation and aloneness, it’s the support of our communities that gets us through this. So I took on a little project this weekend for our WEAD community. I have really felt the support from you all, students and parents alike, over the last several weeks. As a small business owner, I can’t tell you how much the support of this community means to me. I’m talking encouraging emails, financial support, hard working students. It all adds up to so much, and it’s the reason we are going to come out of this stronger than ever. And I wanted to do something to return the support. So, last week, I asked all of our parents to submit any small businesses that they or any of their family members own and I would compile them into a directory. Well, I received 30 submissions, and I cannot wait to share them with you all. You’ll see it really runs the gamete from orthodontists and law firms to a smoothie shop, to an upscale consignment shop for kids! I think there is a little something for everyone here, and even if you don’t see a need for any of these services now, hopefully the next time you are in need of, let’s say, an HVAC company, you can use your WEAD directory to find one! Some of our own WEAD instructors and board members submitted their businesses, and we even have one student who has her own business!
